Deepika Padukone: From a national level player to a Hollywood actress!

The beautiful and talented actress Deepika Padukone is one of the most popular and highest-paid Indian celebrities. Born to badminton player Prakash Padukone, Deepika was raised in Bangalore and like her father she is also a successful athlete. Apart from being a national level badminton player, the actress was a state level baseball player.

After dropping out of Indira Gandhi National Open University where she was studying sociology, Deepika took up fashion modelling and it was Liril advertisement which bought her into the limelight. She had already made a name for herself as a successful model which also included a stint as a Kingfisher calendar girl. The athlete took the stairs from advertisement to Hollywood.
It was Farah Khan who discovered Deepika when she was seen in a music video titled Naam hai Tera Tera by Himesh Reshammiya.

Today’s style icon Deepika, debuted with the Hindi movie alongside badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. She not only presented herself as hot and sizzling actress of Bollywood but constantly kept the record of delivering blockbuster movies to Indian Cinema Industry. The first ever dialogue by Deepika in her debut movie Om Shanti Om was, “Kutte, Kameene, Bhagwaan Ke Liye Mujhe Chhod De.”

It would not be wrong if we call her stunt-woman as she learned Japanese martial art from Jujutsu to perform the stunts in Chandni Chowk to China without any duplications.
Extremely talented Deepika Padukone received three Filmfare Awards, six IIFA, five Producers Guild Film Awards, nine Screen Awards, three Stardust Awards, six Zee Cine Awards and many more in her sack.

Deepika is styled in ZARA for all high-profile time outs. It’s said that the actress does not give her trust to someone very easily.

She also excluded herself from the cast of extremely popular franchisee of Fast & Furious. A few other names in this list include YRF production’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Salman starrer Sultan and Kick, and the record breaking movie Dhoom 3.

Away from films, she’s also done endorsements for brands such as Tissot, Pepsi, Vogue Eyewear, and reportedly a $12 million deal with Garnier—one of the largest endorsements ever given to an Indian actress!

Miss Padukone has a philanthropic side too and she has been associated with the ‘Greenathon Campaign’ initiative by NDTV. She adopted a village named Ambegaon, situated in Maharashtra, with an aim to bring about electrification of the region. She is also associated with the welfare organization ‘Olympic Gold Quest’ which is led by her father.

She broke stereotypes with the famous video ‘My choice’ which stirred a lot of controversy. Yet, Deepika never backed off from speaking her mind out. A couple of years ago, Deepika stepped in to admit about her depression in front of the camera and soon established an NGO with the name ‘live love laugh’, to lend a helping hand to people who go through depression.
